Winning with the Colle System. Ken Smith & John Hall. Chess Digest. 1987. Algebraic notation.
I have had trouble in the past playing against the Colle as Black, so bought this book in the hope that it would let me in on some of the secrets.
However, it is seriously marred by one-sidedness and wishful thinking.
Some Black answers are not considered at all. In particular, there is no mention of Black playing a Stonewall, which, according to Dr. Tarrasch, is generally a good idea when White has voluntarily confined his Queen's Bishop behind his own pawns.
And, more generally: if the Colle system were really so strong as this book contends, then everyone would be playing it!
However, the book is useful as a collection of games with this opening, if nothing more.
