Endgame. Frank Brady. Constable & Robinson Ltd. 2011.
Frank Brady's earlier biography of Bobby Fischer, Portrait of a Prodigy, is widely regarded as the most accurate account of Fischer's life up to the fateful year of 1972, when he became World Championship— and stopped playing chess for what turned out to be twenty years. This book, sub-titled Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall: From America's Brightest Prodigy to the Edge of Madness, recapitulates the earlier work, follows Fischer's life after 1972, and brings the story to an end with Fischer's death in Iceland on 17th January 2008 at the age of 64.
