Off On Holiday

Today is my last day at work before my holiday. I shall be taking the next two weeks off. My original plan had been to go straight to Liz's after work but due to my dire need to do some laundry and make my room inhabitable I have decided to postpone this until tomorrow. Plus, as Liz pointed out, I've been completely shattered all week. Spending 4 hours in a warm car after a long day at work would probably be a bad idea.

Things haven't been going well on the work front recently. I know I've not been giving work anywhere near the commitment I should be giving it, but I have honestly been trying. It's just things haven't been too great for me recently. It's silly little things have been wearing me down, I'm sure everyone feels this way sometimes. Things like not having the energy to do things like washing up my dinner plates, doing the laundry, tidying up my room, take even a vague intrest in my appearance... There's a lot of shit kicking off back at home which is putting a huge burden on me, and money is getting me down as usual.

It's time for a change, and that's exactly what's going to happen. This holiday is exactly what I need. I need a chance to get some rest. A chance to do something different for a while and let the brain use some different synaptic pathways. It'll afford me the opportunity to get me hair cut, which always makes me take a little intrest in my appearance. It forces me to do some laundry and tidy up my room a bit which will make me feel better about myself.

So tomorrow morning I will make my way to Newbury, possibly sporting freshly cut hair, and with a bag full of clean ironed and folded clothes... And I shall enjoy two weeks of relaxing and activities.

When I get back I will hopefully be invigorated and ready to tackle all the shit I need to deal with, and full of interesting stories for this here humble blog.

Late

I was late for work again this morning. This really isn't like me, I've always been proud of the fact that I am very punctual for work. Yet over the last two days I have been late twice. Unacceptable. This morning I just didn't get up. I must have cancelled the alarm on my phone again. It's strange that I always find the phone in weird places when I cancel the alarm. Somehow it reached the other end of my bed this morning.

My only justification for waking up at 9:05 (five minutes after I should have been in work) was that I must have been very tired to sleep through the alarm. People at work keep commenting on the fact that I look exhausted, and I certainly feel it. Thank god my holiday starts this weekend, although my exhaustion will be further exasperated on Saturday as Liz is doing her Moonwalk on Saturday. I shall be waiting for her on the finish line to offer sympathy for the agony she will probably be in and to help her get back home again.

I'm going to need this holiday. Note that I probably won't be blogging at all over the holiday so there is likey to be a 2 week lull followed by a 2 week backlog. ;)

Lowey Predicts

My prediction from last week was:

Expect a big bang on Wednesday.

And today I see in the news Explosion like an 'earthquake' ...a factory in Scotland that exploded killing a number of people. Granted it happened on Tuesday and not Wednesday as I predicted, but being out by 1 day is still pretty incredible in my opinion. When I originally wrote it I was going to put Tuesday, but then changed my mind simply because I realised Tuesday was my birthday. I know that's hard to believe and all of you reading this are almost certainly thinking to yourselves "yeah yeah, of course you did..." but I'm serious I really did.

Still Missing The "Th"

Yes I really must get around to fixing that. My hangover has now passed (thank god). Considering how much I drank last night I escaped very lightly. There was no headache and I didn't feel particularly sick during the day. Only problem is that everything tastes funny which makes it difficult to bring myself to drink anything and rehydrate myself. I put this down to my tastebuds being knackered by vomiting. I really need to drink though, I am extremely dehydrated at the moment.

Now I shall go get some dinner as I am bloody starving. Then I think I will continue work on my latest tune which doesn't have a name yet. I've been hearing positive things about my work which has given me extra energy to get some more stuff done. :)

Not Feeling Good

Ah yes, now I remember why I don't drink much. I have absolutely no idea how much I drank last night but it was definitely more than the 2 pint limit I have adopted recently. I think that "limit" was exceeded many times over.

The night started with a call from my mother which further propelled me headlong into the bad books. I started the conversation by telling her that the call would have to be a quick one as I was having to desert my friends. Big mistake. I got a huge lecture on how she gave birth to me and blah blah blah. All she had to do was ring before I went out to meet my mates, is it really that much to ask that she just doesn't talk all night? Never mind.

We went to The Bay at the end of the evening but, worryingly, I can't remember being there. When I woke up I somehow knew I'd been, but I have no memories from The Bay other than 1. I can remember going to the toilet and desperately hoping I could be sick. Other than that I have no idea what happened. Funnily enough I can remember leaving The Varsity to go to The Bay and I can remember walking home from The Bay but there is just a big blank nothing in my head where The Bay should be. Very odd.

When I got home I had some water which made me feel very sick so I went to the bathroom, and it passed. Bloody hell. All I wanted to do was vomit so that I could feel a bit better. I must have fallen asleep on the bathroom floor for a while. I woke up very suddenly and was violently ill for quite some time. I was such a mess I was vomiting blood for a while, which I read up on. It's apparently caused by severe retching.

I sipped some more water and ate some Frucht Quark which was quite a sensible thing to do, considering how pissed I was. It's dairy based which is good because dairy products help soak up oxidants in the stomach (apparently) and it's cold which soothes the burning throat and mouth. Plus it tastes nice which takes away the awful taste of vomit and it's sweet which helps level the blood sugars out. So a very sensible decision everything considered.

This morning I woke up at 7 when the alarm on my phone went off. God only knows how I managed to set the alarm. I repeatedly used the "Snooze" button for the next 2 hours and had fitful, fractured sleep which was littered with weird dreams. I was an hour and a half late for work.

The hangover hasn't hit me yet, I'm still running on that awful sensation where the alcohol is still floating around in your system and you just know the hangover is coming...

I'm on a Blogathon Today

What a day for the blogging script to fuck the date up, I'm on a blogathon...! I'll likely correct the dates and then the blog below saying "What happened to the th?" won't make any sense, but hey.

Result!

Adrian Shaw has just provisionally agreed to supervise my proposed CS390 project next year. He can't give me a definite answer as he doesn't even know if he'll be given the opportunity to supervise any CS390s next year. However he's interested in the concept and says he's happy to take it on if he is given the opportunity to supervise.

It Happened

Thank god that's out the way. I received a card and some cake :) Some of the people who aren't even here magically managed to sign the card too, although I suspect a bit of doctoring of old postcards etc.
