Oi Got A Bit Ov Brain Lodged In Moi 'Ed!

Headache again today, only the third day in a row now. Bloody beer.

This morning I received a piece of paper to say that a parcel could not be delivered to me. I rang the depot thinking it was the book I sent to my sister had not been delivered, as there was a fee to pay and I wasn't expecting any parcels. Turns out it's from Nottingham, and it's a reused envelope (immediately I knew it was from the parents). Turns out the Uni sent something to me in Nottingham despite knowing my term-time address, knowing I'm going to be there until September, knowing I work for the Uni full time, knowing I will be working here full time until the end of August, and knowing my address at work. My parents forwarded it on using a single second class stamp, genius. I now have to go to the depot to collect the damn thing and pay £1.14 for it. All this for a parcel that could have been sent to me through the internal mail system for free (or near enough).

Last night was the pub-quiz, which I think we came 5th in. Wasn't too bad an evening, but really all I wanted to do was be at home curled up asleep. Really didn't feel up to it all last night. The weather was unbelievable last night. When I got in the car this morning it was thick with salt, I couldn't see out of any of the windows. I washed the windscreen with the jets but had to wipe the side-windows down with a cloth. I really need to find somewhere better to park the car.

Anyhow, better get on. Stuff to do.

Sleeeeeeep... Sleeeeeeep...

I'm shattered. It doesn't seem to matter how much or little I sleep at the moment, I remain in a permanent state of utter-knackeredness. It's probably just stress what with the website deadline looming and all the Study School mayhem.

Today I am working 9-4, then helping run an IT drop-in session from 7-8 where students can come in and discuss any problems they're having, which will almost certainly over-run as these things tend to, and then I am expected to attend the pub quiz that has been organized for the students at 9. I can see that I am going to be dead on my feet tomorrow.

My Sister is back home from the hospital, she arrived there yesterday. Apparently my parents had to transport her, not an ambulance as the occasion really called for. Her back has to be kept immobilised, as far as I can tell, for some time and so really two paramedics should have had the job of getting her into the house, up the stairs and round the tight bend on the landing and into the study where she will be staying for the next few weeks. My Dad made me chuckle with this line:

before long I reckon we're going to have to face the reality of "Do it yourself brain surgery"

Katamari Damacy

It's games that show real innovation in creating new modes of gameplay like this that really catch my attention. This game looks splendid. Currently it's not available in the UK, but hopefully it'll be brought over from Japan and sold in the UK as it received a warm welcome at E3. I think gamers are looking for a breath of fresh air in the market as there is so much stagnant rubbish out there now, clogging the shops and choking innovation. Anyway, take a look - I think it looks splendid:

Oh I Forgot

On Saturday I went to get in my car and saw what looked like a wet patch under it. Dreading another leak I popped the bonnet and had a look. What do I see? The coolant filler-cap sitting quite happily next to the expansion tank. Who's a silly boy then? To think I managed to drive all the way from newbury to Aberystwyth without the cap on, and then drive around Aber for a week without the cap on... Strangely I still had half of the water in the tank. It's amazing I didn't run it dry.

Weekend Madness

When I got home on Friday, my two female flatmates invited me to a barbecue on the beach. It sounded like a good idea, and I had nowhere else to be, so I went along and took some real ales with me. When I got there it turned out I was the only male there. Me and 8 females. Real Ale was possibly not the best choice. However one of them was happy to drink one of the bottles I had taken. They kept offering me burgers, sausages and kebabs and I kept reminding them I was vegetarian. They would then be very apologetic and everything would carry on. Heheh. At one point Linz (one of my flatmates) suddenly started apologising for eating meat in front of me. Heheheheh. I simply pointed out that I had chosen to attend of my own free will and that it really wasn't a problem.

After a while the beer took effect and I had to nip up to the castle to use the facilities there. On the way back a kitten started following me around. I had my camera with me and so took some pictures. It seemed to lose interest in me after a while, so I carried on back toward the beach. Suddenly I could hear it running across the castle grounds, and it followed me around a bit more. I got what I hope was a really nice picture of it jumping up onto a fence with the angel in the background. Again it lost interest so I walked down onto the beach. Next thing I knew it was following me around on the beach.

After we'd drank everything we had with us we nipped back home to get changed and then headed to Rummers to finish the evening. There a random girl joined our party. While talking to her she nearly fell over backwards and I jokingly asked what she was "on". She said "look at my eyes", which I did. "You can't see much colour, can you?" She had a point. Her pupils were so dilated that there was only a tiny slither of colour. I thought she'd had too much cough medicine or something and so jokingly said

"Ah, what're you whacked out on then?" And then she said something that really shocked me. In the same way that you might tell someone that you just ate a packet of ready-salted crisps she said:

"E". Ah. That would explain it. Later on in the conversation she announced that she was only 16. Fucking hell. Not only was she underage to be in a pub, but she was also on E too. Madness!

Saturday was uneventful. I had a slight hangover so didn't do much.

Sunday, however, was spent in Chester watching the model-airplanes show. It was good fun, and I have very much decided that I want one. :D That, however, won't be happening for a while. Generally speaking you should expect to pay about £200 total for a basic plane.

Right. Now back to work.

My Boss Found an Error

My boss found an error on one of the webpages at work, so I tried to log into the site. Note that I built the site, I built the login. Because I'm fairly security conscious I made the login check IP addresses against a list of allowed IPs. How surprised was I to see this?

The computer you are using has not been granted access to the website. Access to these pages is restricted to a set of known computers only. If you believe that you should have access to these pages then please contact someone.

Firstly I have no idea why I can't access my own website. Secondly, I can't believe I forget to put a contact address in the error message! Heheh.
