Fucksticks

I have to move into PJM on Monday, as that is the date that my contract runs out. Last time I had to move they allowed me two days to move because, as I explained, I have a hell of a lot of stuff to move. This move would be the same, or so I thought. Nope. I've got to move everything in one day. Arse. That is NOT going to be fun. I may need to enlist help in order to get everything moved up the hill in time.

I've managed to develop a rather nasty looking cyst on my nose. Research on the 'net tells me that I have two options:

1. Leave it alone and wait for it to fuck off, or,

2. Go to a doctor to have it drained with a syringe.

OW. Bloody skin.

Hurrah, Connected At Last!

I've been trying out a new wireless card on the laptop, which proved more difficult than I had expected. It was complicated by the fact that, at some point, the Aber VPN settings had vanished. God only knows how. Plus I installed Proxomitron recently. Getting everything talking to everything else proved a little difficult, especially when the connection unexpectedly died. *sigh*

Anyway the new card is now working and all seems well.

Laundry

I'm sick of it. Today has been mostly spent doing laundry. It's a pain, it's expensive, and the University's washing machines don't seem to get anything clean. Tomorrow I will be working out what I am keeping in Aberystwyth (not much) and then I shall probably be driving back to the parent's place on Friday. There I shall stay until either Monday or Tuesday when I will descend upon Newbury to stay with Liz until around the 13th when I shall have to dash back to Aberystwyth to move house. Eurgh.

My Last Day At Work

Yes, it is my last day at work finally and I was half an hour late this morning. Oops. Ah well, what're they going to do? Fire me? God I'm shattered, I'll enjoy getting a full nights sleep tonight and getting up whenever the hell I like.

Tea. I need tea, and I need it now.

ADSL

I'm at Liz's. I managed to drive down here without hitting any more road signs. Liz's ADSL seems to work quite nicely by wireless so this blog comes to you live from DuckiNet (TM).

I laid the carpet in her front room today and it looks good. To reward myself I shall be going to OddBins and getting some bee-arr! :D

It's Back

I've got my car back. It's alive. The bumper is still cracked, and because it is twisted it has come away from the right edge of the car a bit, the dent in the bonnet isn't too bad (they straightened it a little). It starts far more easily. I've no idea why. It sounds ever so slightly different (that'd be the new exhaust) and, although it may be my imagination, it seemed a bit nippier.

Anyhow I shall be taking it very easy in the car. I won't be doing any overtaking on any Welsh country roads and I won't be diving into any tight corners as there is still the possibility that the chassis is damaged. They found a very small kink in it, but it's not in a critical place and he tells me it shouldn't be a problem. It's just that he has to tell me just in case.

Tomorrow the car will be having a nice 180 mile drive which will almost certainly outline any problems that it may have. The damage in total was only £220. Not at all bad considering. I've walked away from this crash a very lucky guy.

In other news I found a song on my hard drive last night that I'd started ages ago. It's okay but nothing too amazing. Plugged in some additional effects, played with some parameters, added a bass line, some kicking drums and ... I've got the starts of something utterly splendid. As usual it will be linked to as soon as it's finished.

I Take That Back!

The car should, hopefully, be all sorted and ready for me to pick up tonight! Woohoo! The radiator is being taken out as I write this, the new one will be arriving in about 5 minutes time, and so is the new front-pipe of the exhaust. The wheel alignment is apparently perfectly fine (so I have no idea what the pickup driver was talking about). Now I've just got to convince myself to drive it...

...Yes I am a little apprehensive about getting behind the wheel again. Nothing too serious, I'm just not keen to end up in this situation again. I think I'll be fine once I'm behind the wheel but I don't think I'll be overtaking on a country road for a long time from now, if at all. I think it may feel a little odd driving again. Like when I first learnt to drive and made the car move, and I was so excited and nervous at the same time. Well anyway, I will probably be finding out tonight.

Fucksticks

Once again the garage are not answering the phone. It's starting to seem more and more likely that I'm not going to have my car by tomorrow as I was originally told. :( The result of that is, of course, that I won't be able to drive to Liz's on Saturday. The result of that is that I will have to pay through the nose to endure an unpleasant 6 hour journey which will almost certainly feature lots of hold-ups and disruptions, and having to work to a timetable. And so it's looking like I'm going to have to get up at a stupidly early hour of the morning on Saturday.

Great.
