Lowey's Fact Of The Day:

"Mingy" is in the dictionary. Seriously.

Weatherus Mingus

The weather is atrocious here. It was so bad that I opted to stay at the University rather than walking home. Earlier when I was sat in my room with the window firmly closed, the wind was so violent that my curtains were being blown and I could feel the draft from the other side of the room. This is through a firmly closed double glazed and well sealed window. At one point the window-frame was creaking so much I thought the window was going to be blown right out.

And now I'm starving. Do I,

a. Wait here and hope it gets better, but risk it getting worse, or,

b. Run home.

Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

Major Project

I saw Adrian about my project earlier. He seems to be a little confused about i although I thought I'd make it excruciatingly clear what I wanted to do. I think he's waiting to see it running to get an idea of what it will do. I'm 99% sure that all the databasing will be handled with MySQL. Apparently on the Central server they've only got Oracle installed, which I don't fancy touching with a very long barge pole.

The BASTARDS!

They've gone and not registered me for a core module, SE330! Pillocks. It's a good job I've been attending it as it's nasty. The upshot of this is that I probably won't have to attend the other module I recently found out I was registered for.

Fucksakes.

SE330

AAAAAARGH!

This is the worst module I've ever attended, it's like having your brain slowly pulled out through your nose. Funny thing was my name has never appeared on the register, so I decided I'd better check I am registered for the module. And guess what?

I've been attending a module I don't need to, apparrently. I find that hard to believe so I will need to talk to someone about it, but according to my modules list I'm not doing that module.

Impressive Pasta

My pasta sauce even impressed my Italian flat mate. I've always thought my tomato sauce was nice, but I realised the other day what it was missing: A little sugar. Now it's really lovely.

Seems like I'm in demand at the moment. Craig popped round earlier. Then he wanted me to go to his house and show him how to install Quake III. Next I got a call from Sophie asking me to install her new network card in her laptop. This I did, but in doing so I needed a Win98 CD (I kid you not). My CD was scratched, so I had to see if Craig, or any of his flatmates had a '98 CD. En-route I gave Tom a call as he sent me a text earlier on that I'd forgotten to reply to. In trying to ring Tom I realised that I'd inadvertantly answered an incoming call from Soph asking where the hell I had got to, to which I replied "I'm trudging around in the rain trying to find you a Windows 98 CD". Tom then texted me asking why I'd rang. Got the '98 CD, installed it, returned it. Got home. Now people want to chat to me on MSN, and I'd agreed earlier to play a game or two of Quake III now that Craig has it set up...

AARGH!

Mmmm, nice...

This pasta sauce is really nice. It knocks spots off the COOP crap I bought recently.

After last night's rage I powered my computer down, something I rarely do. I decided it'd be a good idea to completely clear the memory (it's been behaving a bit odd ever since I installed that crap J2EE server) and because I wanted a night without it droning in the background. I awoke this morning feeling much better. There's very little a good sleep can't cure. Or something. Anyway when I tried to power the machine back up it didn't do anything. Nothing at all. The display didn't even click on. Sure, the hard-ldrive spun up, as did the CDROMs but they only need power to do that. The lights were on but no-one was home.

I didn't really have time to mess with it as I had a lecture to go to, so I just had to leave it. When I got back (with Craig in tow) we pulled it apart and reset the CMOS. Sure enough it powered up fine after that, although it did mean resetting all the CMOS settings again. *SIGH*

From now on it can just stay on. No more rebooting. I can't take the risk of it not powering up again!

Fuck Off

I'm in a foul mood. Only the incompetence of the vast majority of the software development can leave me in a mood like this, but it generally has to be sparked by something first. Maybe it's just because I've had a great weekend and this is the come-down from it. That was most likely to be the initial trigger. The further rage is to do with software. It seems every piece of software I use at the minute is deciding to malfunction in one way or another, even if it has been perfectly fine in the past.

I'm going to eat this cheese sandwich and then get some sleep so that I'll be nicely rested and ready for a morning of seething with hatred while sitting in my lectures.

Finally Got My Car Back

The garage finally rang me back. They claim their line was dead because the BT engineers have been and faffed with the lines. That much is plausible, when I took the car in there were BT engineers messing about, but incoming calls all divert to one of 3 mobile phones. They must have seen that I'd rang several times on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and they could have rang back. All well, I've got the car, that's the main thing. Now to pack, get the car some diesel (it's almost empty) and get myself to Newbury.

Fucking Garage

They told me on Monday that they'd ring on Tuesday. On Wednesday I rang them because I'd not heard anything. Then I rang several times on Thursday, and I've rung several times today and left a message asking them to ring me. Still not a fucking word. If I don't get the car back today (as they promised) then I'll be very pissed off, I'm supposed to be going to Newbury. :@
