DSB

About

DSB is a meta project, and stands for Desktop Suite (for) (Free)BSD. It is, as the name suggests, a collection of programs particularly written for FreeBSD^®. DSB is addressed to FreeBSD^® users who prefer to assemble their own (rather minimalist) working environment with tools they really need.

Motivation

I didn't want to install tons of dependencies or entire desktop environments just to use a single program.

I wasn't happy with all the programs written for Linux^® that could break with the next release because of new Linux^® features/dependencies.

I didn't like how certain programs were designed, or that they didn't have the features I needed.

I think FreeBSD^® is a great system for software development, since it is a well documented, well designed system with a stable API.

DSBAutostart	– a Qt program that allows you to add commands to be executed at session start
DSBLogoutmgr	– a Qt utility that allows you to leave your current window manager-session, reboot or (time-controlled) shutdown your system.
DSBWrtSysctl	– a FreeBSD^® command-line tool to write variable=value pairs to /etc/sysctl.conf
DSBMime	– an easy to use, fast C library to identify the MIME type of files
DSBExec	– a Qt utility that lets you execute a command
DSBSu	– a Qt frontend to su(1)
DSBBg	– a simple Qt application to manage wallpapers, and to change your desktop background using feh.
