Found Objects explores the transformation and reinterpretation of the everyday. At its core are photographs of seemingly mundane, often broken objects discovered in urban and natural environments. These found items, frequently overlooked or discarded, are reimagined through an overpainting technique that merges photography and painting into a cohesive visual and symbolic narrative.
Through this process, the objects original functionality and worn - state shaped by decay, wear, and the passage of time - are deconstructed and elevated to a transcendent level. The act of transformation highlights universal themes such as impermanence, change, and renewal.
The series invites viewers to look closer: what initially seems broken or insignificant often contains hidden beauty and meaning. Found Objects examines the relationship between materiality and transience, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the potential of transformation and rebirth in even the most unlikely forms.

EN | daniel rojatz is a photographer and artist living in Austria. He has worked in the field of visual communication and art for more than 20 years.
As an artist, he focuses on abstract compositions, alienation, and density of detail, mainly based on old photographs, fragments of posters, and found objects, weathered and drawn by time. His ‘overpainting’ is closer to calligraphy than to traditional painting, as it focuses less on depiction and more on transformative gestures. it is a search for the moment when documentary becomes an object of creation, the moment when it no longer suffices as mere description and offers the opportunity to transcend what has been seen and found.
‘I’m in search of the aura of the real that was lost in between the original trace and its countless reiterations. I encounter forms and shapes along the way that seem alive, like ghosts. These moments I keep and share as a tribute to their kindness.’
