As one of five artists invited to the exhibition pentalogy @molt, Daniel Rojatz presents five works that blur the lines between past and present, reality and fiction. Each piece invites viewers to immerse themselves in a mysterious, almost dreamlike world where history and imagination intertwine.

Daniel Rojatz captivates with a distinctive style defined by his creative use of archival material. Using old black-and-white photographs as a foundation, he transforms, distorts, and reimagines them through an intricate editing process. The result is a series of surreal compositions where barren landscapes and historical motifs merge into fantastical structures.

The exhibition opened with a special performance by Berlin-based DJ and noise artist Alexander Helten and was on display for three days at molt gallery berlin.

EN | daniel rojatz is a photographer and artist living in Austria. He has worked in the field of visual communication and art for more than 20 years.

As an artist, he focuses on abstract compositions, alienation, and density of detail, mainly based on old photographs, fragments of posters, and found objects, weathered and drawn by time. His ‘overpainting’ is closer to calligraphy than to traditional painting, as it focuses less on depiction and more on transformative gestures. it is a search for the moment when documentary becomes an object of creation, the moment when it no longer suffices as mere description and offers the opportunity to transcend what has been seen and found.

‘I’m in search of the aura of the real that was lost in between the original trace and its countless reiterations. I encounter forms and shapes along the way that seem alive, like ghosts. These moments I keep and share as a tribute to their kindness.’
